My English progress from 2011-2013

Do I learn English in Batxillerat? I know that I learn a lot this course.

I can see that this vocabulary is really basic but now I write better. I use a technical language, connectors and the vocabulary is variate. The structure before was so good so I don't change, it's the same in the actuality. I can do a formal letter, a good summaries, a redaction about something, etc.

 

I think that my best progres in this course is the redaction, because before I didn't write with hability but now it's easy.

I can see now that I prefer listen the last oral presentation that I did it, because when I realized the first I knew the basic English and my expresion oral was bad, I don't know why but always I didn't do it good. 

I write, read and listen good but my speacking is bad, it's so extrange. Maybe I think that I should precipitate to talk, this is the key. But I can't. I'm sorry, I repeat I can! 

I'm funny with my work and I would like to talk in English perfectly, at the moment it 's my dream.

Saudi Arabia: Let Women and Girls Play Sports

In Saudi Arabia, few days later the women didn't realize any sport activity. Saudi Arabia was only country of the world that women didn't practise any sport. But, now the government announced on 4th of May that women can do some sport activity but they must use a decent clothing and they will supervise by famale Saudi instructor.

In Spain, for example, this human right about the gender equality is one of the best important laws in the country. So, the sport is the same activity for the men than the women. It's very different the situacion, because we have this concept since more years late. This concept should be change in Saudi Arabia, because it's like a hard violence for the women.

I think that like an individual it's very difficult to change this but like a group can be posible. But, about this project it's better that the government work about it and apply rules and laws because the people change their mental and moral.

CHALLENGE: Can we make Humans rights more relevant in the world today (WITH THE HELP OF SOCIAL NETWORKS)?

Nowadays, the technology is better than the years before. Technology is important for all in this days, because now if technology disappears in the world will be a brutal crisis. Now, it's essential for our lives. Because thanks of it the humans can know what happen around the world, in all the countries, in all the cities, in all the villages, etc. before when only there was anything or the basic things about technology the humans didn't know anything only they cared about himself. But now, it's very different the situation because the technology learn us all the situacions, the problems, the desasters, etc. that happen in the world. People learn a lot and cared more for other person, but sometimes I think that this explosion and too much information about the people now it's a rutine and people don't value like before. Now, all the problems and other things are a normal things.

So, I thought that with this social networks will be more relevant the human rights in the world today.

Human Rights

1. What are human rights?

Human rights are commonly understood as inalienable fundamental rights to which a person is inherently entitled simply because she or he is a human being. Human rights are this conceived as universal and the same for everyone. The objective of human rights is that every individual and every organ of society shall strive by teaching and education to promote respect for these rights and freedoms.

2. Why were they created?

They were created to preserve the natural rights.

3. How many human rights are there?

Nowadays there are thirty articles.

4. Which human right were you not familiar with? Mention an example where this human right is respected and where it is not respected.

I wasn't familiar with the article 4: "No one shall be held in slavery or servitude; slavery and the slave trade shall be prohibited in all their forms", and it is respect in some countries, but it is still happening in some others, for example Brasil or Africa.

1. Can you summarize the book in two minutes?

The story happens in Alaska.

A wolf has five little cubs but only one of them lives. 

They find a day an indigenous, Grey Beaver. He calls to the little cub "White Fang".

They live with him, but one day when he's older stronger Grey sells him to a man, Smith, who has dogs to fight.

White Fang fights and he always wins but one day he almost dies. A young rich man, Weedon Scott, buys him.

He wants to tame the wolf and he takes him at home there, one day a killer want to kill Scott's father but White Fang save him.

So he is for the family a hero and he lives happy there with his cubs and Collie.

2. Is there a mystery sentence or a turning point in the story?

The story shows us that th wolf must always fight. He must be strong. First to save his life and finally to preotect who he loves.

3. When and where does the story take place?

The story takes place in Alaska.

4. Who are the main characters in the story? What’s their role?

White Fang: A wolf, he lives in freedom and after he lives with differents men. He begans to hate them because they are bad to him but finally he finds love with Scott and his life changes. Then he is happy and he has good feelings.

Weedon Scott: He is a young and rich man. He is a good man. He looks after White Fang. He shows him what love is. He is the goodness in the men.

Smith: This man is bad to White Fang. He wins a lot of money with the fights beetween dogs. He hits White Fang. He is a monster. His role is the misdeed in the man.

5. Choose one character (main or secondary) and describe him/her.

White Fang: A wolf, he lives in freedom and after he lives with differents men. He begans to hate them because they are bad to him but finally he finds love with Scott and his life changes. Then he is happy and he has good feelings.

6. Can you identify with any character? Why?

Really, I'm sure! I like Weedon Scott. I have animals. I'll do all I can for them.

I can't see an animal suffering.

I know that they have feelings and they need love. If you give them love they love you very much more. They'll do anything for you.

7. Choose your favourite moment in the story

My favourite moment in the story is when Scott buys White Fang because it means that the time has come for him to have a good life. He can be happy!

8. Which new key words have you learnt to understand the story?

The main words are:

Fang: Because this symbolizes strength and the wild nature of the wolf. Like "snapping his teeth" or "snarled". All of this words represent how this wolf is.

9. Provide an alternative ending.

I would like it if White Fang returns to his natural habitat and he lives like a real wolf.

And so, he smells nature and the freedom again and forever.

10. Would you recommend this book? Why?

Yes, it's clear!

I recommend this book especially to people who loves animals.

You learn from this book to respect these animals and don't abuse them because they have feelings too and they don't deserve that humans destroy their lives for their interest.

Also, this book isn't boring, it's very interesting and you can enjoy with this sweet story.

Dear Mr. Mukherjee

I live in Catalonia, in a little village, called Castelló d'Empúries. Usually I read many news about the women discrimination in India, but in these last days I have read horrible news about the gender irregularity in this country.

Six men have been arrested after another brutal gang rape of a woman bus passenger.

This is a very big problem. The government have not a good laws to protect the women. Only the government and the courts can give better safety, better respect to violance.

I think that the high Comission of Human Rights in ONU must demanded to change some things but the state in India protect your Human Rights like a kay of a treasor. I considerate that this accion will change inmediatly.

They haven't strong laws against this discrimination. The problem is in their culture. You should call on men as fathers, husbands, brothers and sons to take responsability for the ways they practise discrimination and violence against women.

Nowdays womens and mens must share leadership. Is necessary a change in India. Now is the worst place in the world for women.
Rape is one more thing inside the domestic injustices. There is connection between the discrimination at home and violence in public spaces. 

Your organisation must find a solution. You should advice the governement in India. They must change. It's necessary the India's transition, perhaps the solution began in the school.
Your organitzation must protect the human rights in this country.

My oral presentation

My oral presentation was about my reserch project of observation and investigation of marine animals in Cap de Creus.

I think that I made my oral presentation good. It's true that some things can be better I think that although I was very nervious because I spoke in front of people and it wasn't in my matternal language I was good.

My power point I believe it's very beautiful, interesting and organized. It's the same power point that I used in my oral presentation of the reserch project, because I considere I did it fantastic.

The pronunciation was wonderful but my voice trembled.

Now I have seen it many times and I have corrected the mistakes, so the next time I explain this project I will do better.

Sex without love?

Personally, I disagree with this.

First, I consider that some people have sex with another person for their necessity or personal interest. Really? Is it necessary? It's very nasty and bad.

Secondly, I think that some people do that because nowadays they look for love, but it's really difficult to find it, because normally they have sex very easy with out love.

In my view, people pass more fast the illnesses. For example: AIDS, etc.

Before this action was considered a very bad thing, people never told about this, it was a bad thing. Nevertheless, nowadays people look this like a natural thing.

Youth changes...

People change...

Habits change...

The world changes day by day...

"We can't life without humour"

Why even the most serious persons finishes by laughing once in their live?

The humour always stay with us. It's into our person, it stays into our body forever life.

All people laugh at minium one time in their life. It's imposible that one person never laughs in his life. 

Even the most serious person in the world finally laughs some times for anything.

Some people work with humour. For example: clowns, in TV programmes, etc.

The humour is healthy and funny. Namely it's good.

Thanks that, we are more positives and we do all things more good.

In conclusion, the humour is a turth friend in our life.

My dream

Hi Elisabet!

My name is Èlia Carreras López. I'm 16 years old. In December, I will be 17. I'm lucky because I have a fantastic family. My parents, my brother and my sweet cat, Kitty.

I'm studing 2nd of batxillerat in Castelló d'Empúries, althoug I'm living in Empuriabrava. I've tried to study it because I have a dram. "I want to a be vet". 

Now I know that this tearm I'm going to fight a lot and to study hard because I would like study veterinary science in the University of Barcelona. The acces note is very high. Really, it's difficult!, I know, but I will put my best effort to earn good grades. I think: "Don't give up on myself".

For me to study vet is my dream. I love animals.

When I was child I had no animals in my house but I loved them and I was always with animals around me.

If this dream is impossible in the first time I would like to have a second chance, but I would like that my dream can be a reality. I won't refuse to give up my dream.

So I will have one challenge in the future, I would like become a vet.

"No one's written my destiny for me" so I will fight for my dream!

Describing places

I've chosen Lodon because the last summer I went there.

London is the capital of England and the capital of Great Britain. 

London is one of the most important cities in the world and this country is possibly one of the best know in the world. 

London is a great point of culture and shopping. A lot of people from around the world go to London to study. 

The most important universities in U.K. is the Oxford University and the Cmbridge University. London is very famous for its parks (Hyde park, Green park, St.James park, Kensington Gardens,...) too. 

The biggest river in London is the River Thomes, it goes through th heart of London. In the river there is an attraction. This attraction called London eye is very famous . It overlooks a very beautiful landscape. 

Another monument that is in the river is the tower bridge. It is a spectacular bridge. The most important monuments in London are the Big Ben, Buckingham Palace,Houses of Parliament...). 

Things that are very famous are: the red bus, the red post box and the rain. 

In five words: London is fun, expensive and excellent.

The Gaudí awards

Hello! We're Èlia Carreras and Miquel Farreras. Our presentation is about the Gaudí Awards.

We will start talking about why was that celebration created. Then, we will be talking about some films, and about the best of them. We will keep talking about the awards of this gala.

And finally, we will talk about our conclusions.

How did it start?

The Catalan film academy was created with the objective to be the unitary voice of the Catalan cinema, formed by all creative and productive sectors of the professionals in artistic and scientific subjects, similarly to other film academies.

Its principles

Founding principles are:

1. Identity in cinematographic productions.

2. Scientific study in the language of cinema and diffuse in this knowledge.

3. Cohesion of cinematographic Catalan sector.

4. Promotion of the Catalan cinema

5. Contribute to the internationalization of Catalan films.

6. Promoting discussion forms and debates.

7. Support young talent.

8. Capitalize the potential of the Catalan cinema

9. Celebrate the annual awards and give them prestige.

10. Obtain the international recognition of the academy.

11. Involvement in the wording affecting cinema.

12. Involvement in the politics of cinematographic subsidies or policy.

4th gala of the Gaudí awards

On monday 6th of February at 22 o'clock the theatre Artèria Paral·lel welcomed the gala of the  delivery to the 4th premis gaudí of the academy of Catalan cinema. This edition, was inspired by the musical world. Under the artistic direction of the actor, director and academic president, Joel Joan and the director productor Ferran Audí, the gala was guided by the actor and singer Xavi Miró and the actress Alba Florejachs. They will give the awards to the winners of the 22 categories.

KATMANDU, UN ESPEJO EN EL CIELO

Laia, a young teacher, moved to Kathmandu to more useful work and, there discovered  the extreme poverty and an education level is unfortunate, in addition to rejecting the needy. To legalize their situation, they are forced into a marriage of convenience. Laia plans to develop an interesting educational program in the slums of Kathmandu,soon realizes that he needs the help of the teacher Sharmila to understand the background of the Nepalese people.

MY MOTHER

My mum's name is Rosa. She's tall, brown-eyed, she's got long curly brown hair, she is very beautiful for me and even more for my father.

Rosa hasn't two faces, she is the same when she is with the family, with her friends, at work or anywhere else.

She is very sociable, because she always is smiling. She is very friendly with her friends and very lovely with her family.

Rosa is very nice with all people.

At work, she is very responsible with everything.

Rosa is a little competitive, but when she loses she doesn't get angry.

Rosa is always chatting: with her friends, by the computer, by mobile phone... (with somebody).

One thing that I really like about Rosa is that she is very trendy.

So she lives in a town and she wears good clothes. She is a very trendy-mum.

SPAIN

I was borned in Spain, Catalonia in a village called Roses, on the 19^th of  December 1995.

I lived in Roses until I was 3 years old.Afterwards my family bought a house in Castelló d’Empuries, Empuriabrava.

In Spain, I’ve stayed in Barcelona, Madrid, Valladolid, Almeria, Canarias, Mallorca, etc.

FRANCE

I have been to France 3 times. One time I went when I was 7 years old, I went with my family. We went to France because I wanted to go to Disneyland Paris.

The second time I went because my parents celebrated their anniversary. And this time for the first time I saw the Eiffel Tower.

And the last time i went to Paris, because my brother, when he was 8 years old, wanted to go to DisneyLand Paris too.

ITALY

I went to Italy this year at the end 4^th ESO.

I went with my friends ans my ex teachers. We went to Italy by bus and returned by boat. We visited a lot of cities (Rome, Florence, Pisa) and many monuments (churches, The fountain di Trevi....).

This trip was a wonderful experience for me and I’ll never forget it.

THE CZECH REPUBLIC

I travelled to the Czech Republic with my gymnastic club.We went there because we had a European an international competition.

Apart from the competition, we visited many things in the Czech Republic.The most intersting thing for me was a bridge, that had a monuments and the people said that if you thouch this monument you are welcome to the Czech Republic too.

TUNIS

I travelled to Tunis with my family and my parents friends.

I went there because it was a boat stop on a cruise. I didn’t like this country much because when we arrived the locals attacked us, because they only wanted to sell a lot of souvernirs. I was very stressed.

MEXICO

I travelled to Mexico three years ago. That’s the first time I flight over the Atlantic ocean. I went with my family in holydays. I wanted to go to Mexico since I was 9 years old, and my mother likes hot weather more than the cold. I celebrated there on 19^th of December my birthday.

FINLAND

I went to Finland last week. I went with my gymnastic club because we had a competition too.This competition was only of this country but the association wanted to invite a foreign club, and this club was us.

For them, we are the best gymnastics club they knew in Spain.

In thes trip, we had a change with this gymnasts, in the summer they’ll come to Spain.

Finland for me, is very beautiful and relaxing, but the problem there is the weather because it was very cold.

Many families have a sauna at home.

Jo vaig anar-hi perquè era una de les parades del creuer. No em va agradar gaire aquell país perquè quant nosaltres vam arribar els d’allà en van atacar, perquè ells només volien vendre moltes coses. Jo estava molt estressada.

REPÚBLICA TXECA

Jo vaig viatjar a República Txeca amb el meu club de gimnàstica. Nosaltres va anar-hi perquè nosaltres teníem una competició europea i internacional.

Apart de la competició, nosaltres vam visitar moltes coses de República Txeca. La cosa més interessant per mi va ser un pont, el qual tenia uns monuments i la gent deia que si tu tocaves un dels monuments tornaries a República Txeca un altre vegada.

FRANÇA

Jo he estat a França tres vegades. La primera vegada vaig anar  quant jo tenia 7 anys, jo vaig anar amb la meva família. Nosaltres va manar a França perquè Jo volia anar a Disneyland Paris.

La segona vegada jo vaig anar perquè els meus pares celebraven el seu aniversari. I aquest cop va ser el primer cop que vaig veure la Torre Eiffel.

I l’última vegada jo vaig anar a Paris, perquè el meu germà, quant tenia 6 anys, volia anar també a Disneyland Paris.

ITÀLIA

Jo vaig anar a Itàlia aquest any al final del curs de 4rt d’ESO.

Jo vaig anar amb els meus amics i els meus exprofessors. Nosaltres vam anar a Itàlia amb autobús i vàrem tornar amb vaixell. Nosaltres visitarem moltes ciutats (Roma, Florència, Pisa) i moles monuments (esglésies, la fontanna di Trevi…).

Aquest viatge va ser una experiència meravellosa per mi i jo mai ho oblidaré.

FINLÀNDIA

Jo vaig anar a Finlàndia la setmana passada. Jo vaig anar amb el meu club de gimnàstica perquè nosaltres també teníem una competició. Aquesta competició era només per aquell país però l’associació volia convidar a un equip estranger, i aquest equip érem nosaltres.

Per ells, nosaltres érem el millor club que coneixien de Espanya.

En aquest viatge, nosaltres fèiem un canvi amb les gimnastes, i a l’estiu elles vindrien a Espanya.

Finlàndia per mi, és molt bonica i relaxant, però el problema és el temps perquè es molt fred.

Moltes familiars tenen una sauna a casa.

MÈXIC

Jo vaig viatjar a Mèxic fa 3 anys. Va ser el primer cop que jo vaig volar per sobre de l’oceà Atlàntic. Jo vaig anar amb la meva família per vacances. Jo volia anar a Mèxic des de que tenia 9 anys, i la meva mare li agrada el temps de calor en comparació amb el fred. Jo vaig celebrar el 19 de Desembre el meu aniversari.

SELF-EVALUATION

I think my oral presentation was interesting and original. This topic was different to the others students. I thought I could do this topic because, now I knew better my  classmate. I hope my oral presentation liked them. I was talking about many experiences and funny things in my travels.

I divided this project in seven parts. Each one is about one country that iIve visited.

So, I think my oral presentation isn’t bored because

I wrote on the blackboard the most difficults words so they could understand very well my exposition when I explained it.

I shown them three o four photos for every country.

I know I read sometimes, but I think, I made a gook oral presentation.

In this oral presentation I used a power point because it’s nicer and more practical.

I think my project was complete.

ADRIAN MOLE VS. THIRTEEN

Adrian Mole's book and the film “Thirteen” are examples about teenager's problems.

Adrian Mole's book the main character is Adrian Mole. Adrian is a child, he has many problems with his family because his parents are separated, and also he has problems with one big child, Barry Kent. This child hits Adrian a lot of times because Barry wants his money. Adrian also has more problems with his friend, Nigel, because Nigel steals his love, Pandora. Adrian looks after an old man. His name is Bert Baxter. Adrian helps him in all things. Adrian has a difficult life, but he fights for a new good life, and he gets it.

In contrast, in the film “Thirteen” the main character is Tracy. She is a good girl, her life is very nice, she has a good marks in school and she goes with a good friends. She is a good daughter for his parents. She is well manered and correct. But she has only one problem in her life, her parents problem, because they have a divorced. But Tracy, this problem is supperatefor her. One day, she looks in the school, the best popular girls, and she decides change her look, and her actitud. She goes with Evie, the most popular girl in the school, Evie teaches Tracy a lot of new things, she steals, escapes from her house, smokes, goes in the night to parties, gets pearcing, drinks alcohol, takes drugs, wears a provocate clothes, makes up, kisses a lot of boys, and more bad things. She begins to insult her family, so she begins has very bad marks in school. As a general rule, her actitud is very bad. And then, her family don't know what to do.

Finally, her family helps her, and she changes a little.

The two histories are different but some things are similar. The first history “Adrian Mole”, he begins his history very bad. He is an unfortunate boy. Adrian fights against his problems and his life changes for good.

The second history “Thirteen”, ata the beginning Tracy's life is nice. She is a very good girl, and then when she wants to be a popular girl as Evie, this life changes and she has a revel girl. She has then a bad life.

Probably, all people has problems in the life. You must be strong and learn of your mistakes, so you must fight agains bad things and you'll get be happy.

MY GYMNASTIC COMPETITION IN FINLAND

My gymnastic club travelled to Finland by plane. The trip was from the 27^th to the 30th of October. We left Spain and we flew to Turku, because the competition was there. It was a Finland gymnastic competition. A few months ago, the organization invited us because they had been in Figueres two years ago. They thought that we were one of the best gymnastic club in Spain.

Our club travelled with two groups, in each of them, there were eleven girls. One group was the 10 to 12 years old and the other group was the 14 to 16 years old.

When we arrived at Turku, we all stayed with a Finnish family house. It was an exchange of gymnasts. The first day we were trainning the whole day.It was very hard.

Then arrived the most awaited day, Saturday 29^th, the day of de competition. It began at 8 o'clock.

When we arrived to the sport's center, we combed our hair us and put on our make-up. Then we dressed and started to train.

The coaches explained us the last details. We were very nervous and I felt a big emotion to be there. A few minutes later, a voice said our name “Club Gimnastica Rítmica Gemma”. They said our names: Natalie, Mireia, Marta, Ester and Elia. We went to the stage. The moment had arrived.

The music began, and we started the exercice. We were very sure and we thought that we made a very good exercise, but in the second minute a ball fell on the floor. It wasn't a problem. We continued much better. People applauded.

After the exercise we celebrated it. Our coaches congratulated us. I was very happy because the exercise went well and I thought we would have a good position. I felt very happy. After the competicion, I was quiet and relaxed.
